In 2024, Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has inaugurated a specialized warehouse dedicated solely to e-commerce, mail, and courier logistics services, aimed at bridging logistical gaps. This marks an exciting milestone as we endeavor to position Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as the cross-border e-commerce logistics hub for Africa and beyond. The newly inaugurated warehouse spans 15,000 square meters and boasts a capacity to handle 150,000 tons annually. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and meticulously implemented systems, the facility offers a range of services including ET–E-com Fulfillment.

2023

Turned to 68+ cargo and 130+ passenger destinations.

Ethiopian Cargo currently owns 10 Boeing 777-200F, 2 Boeing 767-300F, and 4 Boeing 737-800F dedicated freighters, as well as 130+ passenger aircraft serving 67 cargo destinations and 135+ passenger destinations worldwide.

2022

B767 fleet phased in.

In 2022, Ethiopian Cargo phased in B-767, for medium-long haul flights, and the second one in 2023.

2019

B737-700 fleet introduced.

In 2019, Ethiopian Introduced the first two 737-700 for medium-range fleets, and the other two in the second phase, in March 2021 and June 2022.

2017

Expanded largest cargo terminal in Africa inaugurated.

In 2017, Ethiopian Cargo continued its expansion and inaugurated the largest cargo terminal in Africa which solidified its position as a leading cargo service provider on the continent and boosted its capacity to 650,000 tons per annum, enabling Ethiopian Cargo to handle a significant volume of cargo efficiently.

2013

State-of-the-art perishable cargo cold storage facility inaugurated.

In 2013, the company inaugurated its state-of-the-art perishable cargo cold storage facility, showcasing its commitment to enhancing its perishable cargo handling capabilities, which are temperature-sensitive such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, and pharmaceuticals.

2012

B777F fleet introduced.

In 2012, Ethiopian Cargo phased in its first B777F freighter aircraft, which marked a significant milestone for the airline.

2006

The first cargo terminal inaugurated.

In 2006, the first cargo terminal was inaugurated, which has a remarkable capacity of 300,000 tons per annum.

1990

Freighter operation enhanced with larger and heavier shipment operation.

In the early 1990’s, Ethiopian Airlines introduced freighter aircraft including the Boeing 757-200PF and McDonnell Douglas MD-11F, to enhance its cargo operations to transport larger and heavier shipments.

1976

Fleet conversion to cargo-only freighter.

In 1976, Ethiopian configured its 707-320C into a cargo-only freighter aircraft.

1971

Domestic cargo shipment started.

In 1971, Ethiopian operated cargo flights on domestic routes with DC-3 transporting coffee from Sidamo to Addis, which then expanded to Benghazi with 720 Aircraft.

1965

Ethiopian started cargo freighter flights

In 1965, Ethiopian started cargo freighter flights with DC-6 to Frankfurt via Asmara transporting flowers and vegetables.
